Dear Friend of LongHouse,
The intrinsic modus operandi of LongHouse is Living with Art in All its Forms and now we invite you to live it with us in a new place and in a new way. Everyone knows that Brooklyn is the hotbed of culturally cool New York and so we are kicking off our Jubilee Year in Williamsburg's sensational new concert venue National Sawdust. Their mantra is 'Vision into Art'.
We chose this next-generation performance space to honor Hugh Hardy, the progressive architect of such spaces as the Joyce Theatre, the BAM Harvey and its Theater for a New Audience and much of Lincoln Center, whom Jack refers to as "New York's architectural laureate". Peter Zuspan of Bureau V, the innovative design studio responsible for National Sawdust, will join him to banter about their ideas.
To wine and dine you, James Beard Award Winner Chef Patrick Connolly will be initiating one of his first evenings in the Brooklyn space. There will be a scrumptious before concert reception and, for those staying for dinner, surprises from the in-house restaurant Rider.
The revolutionary acoustics will be shown off in an electrifying performance by the explosive Afro-futurist chanteuse Nona Hendryx - her voice made even more vital with a mind-blowing multimedia performance utilizing all of the 21st century state-of-the-art technical innovations at hand.
As befits a hot new spot for a special audience, space is limited, so please let us hear from you soon. We cannot wait to welcome you to the first event of our milestone 25th year and deeply appreciate your belief in LongHouse.
