LongHouse Talks: Alec Nevala-Lee on Buckminster Fuller (September 29)
A conversation with Alec Nevala-Lee on Fuller the designer, inventor and futurist
Sunday, September 29 | 5:00 pm
For nearly a quarter of a century, one of the most iconic structures at LongHouse Reserve has been the Fly’s Eye Dome, a 28-foot enclosure based on a design by Buckminster Fuller. An innovative architectural designer, inventor, and futurist, Fuller (1895-1983) occupied a unique position at the intersection between the environmental movement, the twentieth-century avant-garde, and the startup culture of Silicon Valley. LongHouse is pleased to welcome Alec Nevala-Lee, the author of the biography Inventor of the Future: The Visionary Life of Buckminster Fuller, for a conversation about the history of the Fly’s Eye Dome, Fuller’s career, and the impact and legacy of his ideas.
