We’re excited to invite you to take part in an upcoming Scrollathon®, a collaborative art experience where you become part of something bigger. Guided by artists and brothers Steven Ladd and William Ladd, and together with your community you will create simple artworks from fabric and other materials, share personal stories, and contribute to a collective masterpiece that will represent New York State for America's 250th anniversary.

Limited to 25 guests per session. Each participant (or their guardian) must click here to complete a Program Participation Agreement

The National Scrollathon® brings together the creative expressions of people from American communities in a collaborative, multidimensional exhibit uniting the country for the 2026 Semiquincentennial celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026.

The Scrollathon is more than a workshop—it’s an experience. No art skills are rquired-everyone can participate. It’s fun, engaging, and a little like a performance where the audience gets to participate. Like many interactive works of art, it can’t be fully captured in a short video or a single paragraph. You simply have to come and be a part of it. You don’t need to know every single detail in advance, and you don’t need any special skills—just bring yourself and join us in creating something unforgettable.

Take part in this unique opportunity to share stories, connect with others, and help make history together. Your artwork, portrait, and story will become part of a national exhibition at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, during the summer of 2026.

What Will You Do?
Create a simple scroll artwork tied to a personal story, and take it home. Work alongside others on a collaborative artwork that represents New York State for the 2026 Semiquincentennial. Have your portrait taken for a community mural and permanent record. You may be invited to record a short video about your experience.

Who Can Participate?
The program is designed for fifth grade and above, though families with younger children are welcome too. Absolutely no prior art experience is required, everyone can contribute. The Ladd Brothers have worked with participants across many communities—including those with autism, special needs, retirement communities, and individuals living with dementia or Alzheimer’s.

All participants must complete and submit the Program Participation Agreement.
