Evening Painting in the Gardens

Capture the beauty of LongHouse in watercolor

Cost:

$35.00 – $45.00 per person

Duration:

1h 30min

Unwind with an evening of painting in the gardens from 5-6:30pm on Fridays, May 23, June 20, July 18 and August 1 with artist and instructor Barbara Thomas. As the light softens and the colors shift, capture the beauty of LongHouse in watercolor. Bring your favorite drink and a few nibbles to enjoy while you paint - think of it as a creative happy hour in the garden! Whether you're a seasoned artist or just starting out, Barbara will guide you in a relaxed, inspiring setting. You'll leave with a beautiful summer memento to cherish long after the evening ends.

LongHouse presents a summer of art experiences that blend the beauty of our gardens - sculpture, flora, winding pathways, and ever-changing light and shadow - with the joy of creative expression. Guided by artist and educator Barbara Thomas, these painting classes are open to all, whether you're picking up a brush for the first time or have years of experience. LongHouse provides materials, but you're welcome to bring your own.

Barbara Thomas has been making art all her life. She studied at The Art Students League and Pratt Institute in New York and earned her MFA from the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University. Her work explores nature and humanity’s relationship to it, depicting earth, sky, flora, and fauna in oil and gouache, as well as digital photography, video, land art, and sculpture. Known for her public art and commissioned pieces, Barbara has created everything from intimate tree portraits to large-scale murals. An experienced educator, she has taught art for over 20 years, designing museum docent programs, art school curricula, and lectures on art history and process.
