Our Sonic Garden Party was a blast! Held on the First Lawn, guests enjoyed the performances of two amazing artists, Bora Yoon and Colin Self. Yoon, a TED 2014 Fellow, uses unconventional instruments and music technology to create one of a kind soundscapes and did so to great effect at the Sonic Garden Party. Self, a singer, composer and choreographer, used the gardens of LongHouse to produce a captivating performance that held the audience under his sway. Harry Bertoia's "Sonambient" sound installation was also on display in Buckminster Fuller's Fly's Eye Dome and created a wall of magical and mysterious music.
Cooling refreshments were provided by the Boylan Bottling Company, Morris Kitchen and Essentia Water and guests ate heartily at the Silver Spoon Specialties food truck.
As the sun went down, guests made their way over to the Amphitheater where a lively drum circle session kept the party jumping.
Thank you to our performers, guests, vendors, and staff for this fantastic evening. And a very special thank you to the members of our Junior Council for bringing the Sonic Garden Party to LongHouse!
