Julie Jensen has been a Sogetsu Ikebana practitioner for more than 30 years.  She took her first lesson at the Smithsonian Institution as part of its adult education program and was hooked.  She continues her studies today with her teacher, Jane Redmond.

The Sogetsu School believes that anyone can arrange flowers anywhere, a philosophy Julie has adopted.  She was dropped at a corner in Washington DC for her final project before becoming a teacher where she had to come up with at least two arrangements.  She succeeded and is now a teacher second grade and has exhibited at many places including the US Botanical Garden, The Torpedo Factory and the Blue Spiral Gallery in Asheville.
