LongHouse Reserve is proud to present our eighth LONGHOUSE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD.

The LongHouse Scholarship Award was created to recognize creative ambition in all its forms including the Visual, Literary and Performing Arts, Horticulture, Landscape, and Design.

For 2024, LongHouse Reserve offered two $5,000 scholarship awards.

The 2024 Awardees were: Taylor Atwell (East Hampton High School) and Heather Moran (Shoreham-Wading River High School).

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Region: Suffolk County
  • Fields of Interest: science, literature, painting, photography, textiles, environment, art, social studies, wellness
  • Education Level: High School senior

Eligible students must be high school graduating seniors pursuing studies in art, design, environment, science, or related field. A personal connection to LongHouse and our mission of living with art in all forms is essential.

Letter, Creativity, Purpose, Engagement

Submissions are being accepted, now through Friday, April 5, 2024.

LETTER OF INTEREST
The letter of interest should be no more than two (2) pages in length, double-spaced. Please include your full name and complete contact information at the top of your letter.   Within your letter be sure to include how LongHouse and/or Jack Lenor Larsen’s work or philosophy has inspired you. For your consideration: what are the sources of your inspiration, whether artists, environmentalists, works of art, the natural world, and the ways these intersect. What role will creative inspiration and exploration play in your life as you continue in your career and/or academic pursuits after high school? Most importantly, give a sense of who you are.

LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION
Submit two (2) letters of recommendation. One must be from a current/past instructor. The second letter may be from an instructor or a mentor, or a guidance counselor familiar with your creative vision and/or future goals and aspirations. Letters of recommendation may be emailed as an attachment by either the writer of the recommendation or by a guidance counselor to education@longhouse.org.  (Subject line should read: applicant's last name, first name, Recommendation).  Applicant may not submit letters of recommendation.

DEADLINE
Submission materials must be received no later than Friday, April 5, 2024.

Awardees will be notified no later than Monday, April 29, 2024.

AWARDS
LongHouse Scholarship Awards will be presented publicly at LongHouse (tba). We request that our award winners be present. With permission, awardees will be recognized on all of LongHouse Reserve's social media platforms.
