We invite you to join us for an exclusive sale at LongHouse Reserve! On Thursday, May 24 from 2-4pm, Darshan Shah of Kolkata will present her handmade scarves designed especially for LongHouse for this event. Her company, Weavers Studio, employs over 1,000 women, enabling them to learn new skills and support their families. The mission of Weavers Studio is "Taking India's rich heritage, culture, techniques and the arts to the world" and they certainly will live up to their mission with this very special sale.
LongHouse founder Jack Larsen and curator Wendy Van Deusen will introduce Darshan, who will speak about her business and the wide range of techniques her weavers employ including khadi, jamandi, natural dyeing, kantha, shibori and more.
The afternoon will also include the premiere of the new Jack Larsen Collaboration Quilts, a limited edition collection made completely of Larsen textiles. Each quilt/throw is unique, constructed of different panels of fabric from Jack's personal archival collection. They were then embroidered using a Japanese running stitch by a non-profit in Haiti. Don't miss this opportunity to own one of these amazing quilts, each one a work of art in itself.
RSVP is recommended to events@longhouse.org or call us at 631 329 3568.
